Position Descriptions for 2026-2027 open board positions:

President-Elect
Position purpose: To learn the workings of MANA and obtain an operational 
knowledge for seamless transition to President

The President-Elect will:

  1. Perform all duties of the President, in the absence or disability of the President
  2. Serve as the champion of the strategic plan throughout the year (reviews prior to each board meeting to provide a status report to the board)
  3. Represent MANA at AANA’s Fall Bootcamp, Mid-Year Assembly, and Annual Congress, unless an absence is preapproved by the current President
  4. Communicate on a regular basis with the President to learn the workings of MANA and obtain an operational knowledge
  5. Attend meetings and/or calls with all MANA affiliates as requested by the President.
  6. Develop goals and objectives for their term as President of MANA
  7. Serve on the GRC and Finance committees in preparation for assumption of the role of President


Treasurer-Elect
Position purpose: 
To learn the financial workings of MANA and obtain an operational knowledge for seamless transition to Treasurer.

The Treasurer-Elect will:

  1. Serve as a mentee to the Treasurer to ensure that all monies received or disbursed are done in accordance with MANA policy
  2. Support approval of expenditures according to MANA policy
  3. Support providing reports on MANA’s financial transactions and status at the Annual Business Meeting and/or upon request to the Board of Directors
  4. Support to ensure the maintenance of accurate financial records of the Association
  5. Support to ensure annual Federal, State and Local tax forms are filed
  6. Support the development and presentation of an annual budget to the board for approval, with the assistance of the Finance Committee
  7. Serve on the Finance Committee


    Director
    Position purpose: 
    Actively serves on the MANA Board to maintain appropriate operations.

    The Directors will:

    1. Participate on at least one committee during term on the board
    2. Adopt resolutions and policy statements representing the position of MANA
    3. Adopt the annual budget for MANA
    4. Represent the best interests of membership in Board deliberations
    5. Assist MANA officers in providing oversight on future direction in meeting the goals of the organization and membership growth
    6. Participate in Board meetings (regular and special) and the governance of the association through formulation, review, and execution oversight of the business decisions guiding the overall direction of MANA
    7. Represent MANA to federal and state policy makers, other organizations/associations, potential members, patients, and hospital administrators, etc.
    8. Assist with identifying and recruiting future leaders for committee and board participation


    Student Representative
    Position purpose: 
    To act as liaison between Associate members and the MANA Board.

    The Student-Representatives will:

      1. Serve as a role model/mentor to prospective and current students
      2. Take opportunities to educate students on the importance of MANA as a professional organization and encourage involvement
      3. Communicate student issues and concerns to the MANA board
      4. Attend all MANA board meetings (monthly and/or when special meetings called), the annual MANA Fall Educational Conference and Business Meeting, AANA’s Mid-Year Assembly, and any other events determined by the Board
        1. Any travel required will be supported by the funding in the respective Student Representative’s budget
      5. Participate at the level requested by the MANA board at all sponsored activities
      6. Write a Student Address for an edition of the MANA Gasline
      7. Work with the Professional Development Committee to plan and coordinate the Student Session at the Fall Educational Conference
      8. Work in coordination with their respective school’s Program Director and MANA board liaison to develop 3 touchpoints with students to augment engagement of students, inform students of opportunities with MANA, and/or promote student well-being on behalf of MANA
