Mike Anderson, DNP, CRNA, ARNPMike Anderson is a CRNA, Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Coordinator of the Anesthesia Nursing Program at the University of Iowa. Dr. Anderson is passionate about education, evidence-based practice, infection control and the use of simulation in education. He has been active at the state & national level with IANA, the AANA and the AANA Foundation. He is the current AANA Region 4 Director. |
L. Harold Barnwell, III, DNAP, CRNA, CHSEDr. Barnwell is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Education in the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Nurse Anesthesia and practicing anesthetist with the VCU Health System. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Liberty University, and Master of Science - Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University. As a PhD student in the VCU College of Health Professions, Dr. Barnwell's research focuses on novel prediction, mitigation, and identification strategies aimed at reducing the incidence of postoperative delerium in older surgical patients. His other research interests include ultrasound applications in anesthesia, modernizing education for millennial students, and international collaboration of nurse anesthetists. |
Joanne Donnelly, DNP, APRN, CRNAJoanne has been practicing anesthesia for over 20 years since completing her training at Columbia University and has been a lifelong learner for the purposes of improving knowledge, skills, and professional development. In addition to practice she has served as both a clinical and didactic educator for student nurse anesthetists with patient safety as an emphasis for research, lectures, and policy application. Joanne’s doctoral work at Vanderbilt University focused on illustrating the gaps for intra-operative handoff between anesthesia providers, and how checklists could be employed to improve patient outcomes and limit adverse events. She has provided over 100 professional lectures both nationally and internationally addressing the fundamentals of anesthesia practice as well publishing in textbooks and continuing education journals. Lynne Macksey, RN, MSN, CRNALynne Macksey is a CRNA, published author, and public speaker. She was an ICU nurse for 23 years before attending the University of Pittsburgh Nurse Anesthesia Program and has worked at Level 1 trauma centers since graduating, now working at UNC Chapel Hill where she works as a staff CRNA and precepts Duke SRNAs and UNC anesthesiology residents. She speaks at the state, national, and international meetings for CRNA/SRNA education. Lynne has written four books with multiple editions and numerous peer-reviewed journal articles all in the field of anesthesia. Her first, best-selling book has been translated into Korean, Polish and Chinese. All of her books are sold internationally and are required texts in multiple anesthesia programs throughout the world. Two of these books received national awards. |
COL Benjamin Riley, CRNA, DNAPCOL Riley has been a CRNA for nearly 20 years at a Level 1 Trauma Center and is a 21 year Veteran of the Army. Recent deployment in 2018-2019 on a Forward Surgical Team with Special Operation Task Force - Afghanistan. In Afghanistan he was a part of several combat operations and cared for Special Forces soldiers earning a Combat Medic Badge for treating casualties while engaged by enemy fire and a Commendation Medal with C-device for leadership during the life-saving resuscitation and evacuation of a Green Beret with GSWs in the field. |
Matthew Zinder, MS, CH, CRNAMatthew Zinder has worked in some level of healthcare for 25 years, starting as an EMT in a volunteer fire station. Matthew owns and operates a Maryland-based mobile anesthesia practice that has been in business since 1984. It consists of 20 practitioners and covers 50 locations throughout the state of Maryland. Matthew speaks at many professional conferences, both nationally and internationally, involving topics such as stress management, wellness, business of anesthesia, and the practice of anesthesia. He is the producer and host of The Going Viral Podcast where he has discussions with guests pertaining to health, wellness, and science. He is the founder and director of Maryland Emergency Response, a disaster relief 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to aid victims following natural and/or man-made disasters.
